Jakarta, 21 March 2023 – Three years ago, on March 2 2020 to be precise, the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo officially announced the first case of COVID-19 in Indonesia. At that time, the whole world didn’t know how to overcome this pandemic, including Indonesia. Everything is uncertain. The government invites all components of the nation to work together to control the COVID-19 pandemic. Thanks to the synergy of all components of the nation, Indonesia has succeeded in handling this pandemic. Therefore, the Government gives awards to those who have worked hard and contributed positively in controlling the COVID-19 pandemic.
Award for handling COVID-19 or Implementation of Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) This award is given to vaccination centers, telemedicine, whole genome sequencing (WGS) laboratories, media, influencers, religious organizations, academics, friendly countries, State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), international organizations, foreign private companies, domestic private companies, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). At the award ceremony on March 20 2023, the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo said, “This success is the hard work of all components of the nation. I hope that this hard work will be continued to overcome other big problems. We must continue to move synergistically to mobilize all components of the nation. Handling the COVID-19 pandemic shows our extraordinary strength as a great nation. “If we work like we are handling COVID, we will be able to solve other problems quickly.”
Indonesia’s success in handling the COVID-19 pandemic has received international recognition. The President stated that in June 2022 the Director General of WHO, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, stated that the handling of COVID-19 in Indonesia is among the best and vaccination coverage is also among the best. Apart from that, Johns Hopkins University in September 2021 stated that Indonesia was one of the best countries in the world in reducing COVID-19 cases.
At the end of his speech, the President stated, “To the ladies and gentlemen who received the PPKM Award, I convey my congratulations. “Let us continue this dedication to solve various humanitarian and national problems, and build Indonesia into a developed country.”
After receiving the 2023 PPKM Award, Managing Director of PT Good Doctor Technology Indonesia, Danu Wicaksana, said, “We are honored to receive this award from the Indonesian Government for our contribution in handling the COVID-19 pandemic. This award does not make us complacent, but we will continue to increase access to quality health services with our digital technology for all people in Indonesia. “In this way, we will get closer to achieving our vision, “One Doctor for Every Family in Indonesia.”
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Good Doctor has made various comprehensive efforts to support the Government in controlling this pandemic. Starting from providing special health education regarding COVID-19, swab test services, COVID-19 Clinics, and COVID-19 vaccines in partnership with various stakeholders to launch vaccination centers in various regions in Indonesia. At each vaccination center, Good Doctor applies proven methods to reduce crowds and minimize cancellations at locations or delays through the use of the vaccination participant registration feature as well as the pre-screening feature which can be accessed via the Good Doctor and GrabHealth applications powered by Good Doctor. As we know, crowds can be a risk factor for the spread of COVID-19.
Until July 4 2021, Good Doctor was officially appointed by the Government (Ministry of Health) under the auspices of the Indonesian Telemedicine Alliance (ATENSI) to provide free teleconsultation and self-isolation (isoman) services to all Indonesian people infected with COVID-19. Even though at that time Good Doctor was still a new player in telemedicine. More than 70,000 people have experienced the benefits of teleconsultation with Good Doctor and this program is still ongoing today.
Apart from that, Good Doctor provides complete and accurate COVID-19 guidance information that always follows updates to Government and Ministry of Health policies. The birth of this guide was based on experience in providing teleconsultation and self-isolation to COVID-19 patients, that people during self-isolation need guidance because patients become their own doctors.
The PPKM Award won by Good Doctor proves that at a young age, only 3 years old, Good Doctor has demonstrated optimal performance and hard work so that he is able to contribute to this nation in overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic. A pandemic that when it emerged, all countries in every part of the world still had to learn to control it. Apart from Good Doctor, other telemedicine recipients of this award are Alodokter and Halodoc.
