One of the disease cases that continues to increase during the rainy season is dengue hemorrhagic fever or more commonly called DBD. It is caused by dengue virus infection through mosquito bites. Aedes aegypti . Then, to reduce the risk of DHF disease, the Dengvaxia DHF vaccine is now available.
Dengue Fever (DHF) Cases
Dengue hemorrhagic fever is a public health problem that has attracted considerable attention worldwide, especially in tropical and subtropical regions.
According to an explanation from WHO’s Weekly Epidemiological Record, there has now been an increase in dengue cases where there are about 3.9 billion people, in 128 countries, at risk of dengue virus infection. Some of the regions most seriously affected by the dengue virus are the Americas, Southeast Asia and the Western Pacific.
About 75 percent of people infected with dengue virus are mild or do not experience any symptoms. However, for cases in people who need to undergo treatment or are symptomatic, it usually has an incubation period of 4-7 days, but can also range from 3-14 days.
People who need to undergo treatment show symptomatic symptoms of sudden fever accompanied by headache, retro-orbital pain, generalized myalgia and arthralgia, facial flushing, anorexia, abdominal pain and nausea. But the most common symptom experienced by people with DHF is the appearance of rashes on the skin.
Then, for dengue criteria that are already in the severe category will show symptoms such as plasma leakage in the blood which can lead to shock or fluid accumulation with respiratory distress, severe bleeding, or organ damage.
Seeing that dengue cases are quite life-threatening, there is now a Dengvaxia dengue vaccine that can help reduce a person’s risk of being infected with the disease.

About Dengvaxia DHF Vaccine
According to WHO, the CYD-TDV vaccine (Dengvaxia) is licensed and it is a live attenuated recombinant tetravalent vaccine using the YF 17D virus strain. The dengue vaccine Dengvaxia itself is licensed in several dengue endemic countries, with an age indication of 9-45 years in most countries.
This Dengvaxia dengue vaccine license has undergone 2 parallel phase 3 clinical trials, known as CYD14 and CYD15. It involved more than 30,000 children in 10 dengue-endemic countries in Asia and Latin America.
